25th Anniversary of the Los Angeles Olympic Games

Keith Jackson and Jim Lampley, two of the nation's most accomplished sportscasters, will share the microphone as co-Masters of Ceremonies at a special gala celebration on Saturday, July 18 at the L.A. Coliseum to commemorate the 25-year anniversary of the historic 1984 Olympic Games.

Aside from their distinguished careers covering a multitude of sports, the names Jackson and Lampley are also synonymous with the Olympic Games; Jackson has covered 10 Games and Lampley 14.

During the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Jackson announced the men's and women's basketball tournament at the Forum for ABC Sports, while Lampley worked the swimming competition at USC.

The gala is co-sponsored by the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games (SCCOG) and the Los Angeles Sports Council. The celebratory dinner will be held on the floor of the Coliseum and will feature an Olympic-themed show created by David Wolper, the producer of the spectacular 1984 Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Dozens of notable athletes from the '84 Games have confirmed their attendance, including gold medalists Mary Lou Retton, Edwin Moses, Peter Vidmar, Evelyn Ashford, Bart Conner, Al Joyner, Paul Gonzalez, Valerie Briscoe-Hooks, Greg Louganis. In addition, 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee President Peter V. Ueberroth and Rafer Johnson, who lit the Coliseum's Olympic Cauldron, also will participate in the event.
